Mick on Radio 2 tonight

Today is the 50th anniversary of the famous 12-hour session at Abbey Road which resulted in the Beatles’ genre- defining album Please Please Me and leading artists (including Mick) will attempt the same session, delivering 11 songs, in the same timescale, in the same studio. The results will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 2 in session order and will be captured for a BBC Four special , The Beatles’ Please Please Me – Remaking a Classic to be shown on Friday 15th February.
The session started at 10:00am and will finish at 10.30pm. Stuart Maconie will host the day at Abbey Road and on BBC Four, with Jo Whiley presenting a special Radio 2 programme live from the iconic studio between 7:00 and 10:30pm. Mick is due to perform his song some time after 7pm. People lucky enough to have been there 50 years ago will help tell the remarkable story of what happened that day, giving fresh insight along the way, including engineer Richard Langham and Beatles’ press officer Tony Barrow.
More info on the Radio 2 shows today can be found here and on the TV show on Friday there is more information here.
