Such a fantastic evening — we spoilt ourselves and bought VIP tickets with champagne and third row D block seats. It was a fabulous evening — what a venue, superb concert as usual. We have followed Mick and the gang for 25 years and have matured with age (like us all!!!) Look forward to Broadlands next week.Lots of love Kay & Chris.
This concert will stay in my memory forever. The palace couryard was beautiful, very atmospheric, and the band were as allways fantastic, looking really happy. I’m sure even the ghosts couldn’t resist dancing!
Thank you Simply Red for a trully excellent night!
love

Love the Set List this evening’s concert.
Thanks for the reviews, we planned to attend, but could not make it…sounded wonderful.
Chrystine,
Love the blanket reference but I suggest you get yourself up North to Notts if you want to be up on your feet from the’whistle’. Us midlanders were and it was awesome.
PS I love champagne and appreciate an historical setting, but a pop concert is a pop concert…isn’t it??
Hi all. I’m more than happy to say that I was at Hampton Court Palace to see this fantastic group. Stupidly, I dressed for the summer and was freezing. It was to my delight that blankets were being sold (courtesy of Continental Airlines) for £10.00. I would have paid £20.00, it was that cold, but the blanket bits have now spoilt my top! The guys were great as usual. I couldn’t believe that the crowd were able to remain seated for so very long. My friend and I wanted to get up and dance but saw some very stiff faces so preferred not to draw attention to ourselves. How can you remain seated at a pop concert? (I know it was a Palace but it was a concert at the end of the day). Yes the crowd arose but only having remained seated for the first 70 or so minutes. Beautiful intimate setting. Much more appealing and of course personal that the 02 which of course should not be snubbed!
This was a special show in a truly terrific venue. Before the start, there was good time to picnic and enjoy the free champagne in lovely surroundings. We arrived early and also toured some of the Palace. This was an intimate venue compared with the other UK 2010 shows, maybe 2 to 3,000 I guess. Perhaps Edinburgh will be comparable.
The concert got off to a comparatively sedate start, with most remaining in their seats, as the tickets requested. Whilst it was a lovely clear evening, it was really cold. Kenji & Steve seemed to struggle to keep their hands warm, and as ever Ian & Kevin seemed to exchange jokes. Kenji moved about like I haven’t seen before. Mick amused himself by teasing the guys that they hadn’t dressed for the weather. He had a jacket, waistcoat and long-sleeved shirt, the others were dressed for summer.
When Stars started everyone got to their feet and stayed that way. It was singing and dancing from them to the end.
As the light faded, the setting became even more spectacular and the expressions on the lads faces suggested they were really enjoying this show, maybe because for most of them this was a home concert (only a few minutes home for Mick). Bedgebury was good, this was better. Hopefully even better still to come.…
Hampton Court is a lovely setting and it was good to see Mick and the boys for the first time this year. The show was excellent as usual and Mick reassured us that this wasn’t the end, so don’t be sad, and there will be a new beginning.….….….….….….….….….….…..
GREAT!!!!!!
