hey Mick, Pete, the band…was thinking today that I’m worth SOMETHING after all…everybody’s worth something…it’s so sad that there are so many things in the world that aren’t the way they should be…and that people get treated badly for sometimes decades.…but I guess if you look at Jesus things didn’t exactly go so well for him on earth, but he didn’t give up…even from the cross he wasn’t bitter, but said “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do”.…that’s TRYING…that’s NOT giving up on love…I love your music because it helps me to believe in things like that, and I think that it’s things like love and mercy and forgiveness that make the world go round, and your music helps me quite a bit to keep believing that…love you for that…
hey Mick…Pete… the band…went to church today and although it wasn’t perfect, still, found some peace there…listened to your music yesterday and found some peace there as well…that’s what makes me think you must have something sort of spiritual going on in it, as ridicules as that sounds…cause your music brings to my soul peace, joy, thoughts of forgiving, faith, hope and love…and all that has it’s source from God and only God.…
hey Mick…Pete…the band…it’s a beautiful Sunday, if you like cooler summer weather, and I do!…the land has gotten so much rain this summer, maybe not so much in July and August, but definitely in May and June,and the grass and tress and other vegetation is quite lush…must say that your release of “beside you” on the “songs of love” album is just what the doctor ordered, at least in my case…I think that song ranks up there with “holding back the years” in my estimation…also, was thinking again about the lyrics of “open up the red box” where it says, “SOMETHING good MUST have happened to you”…I love that sentiment…it’s so helpful
hey Mick…Pete…the band…went out with a couple, the wife of which is related to me, and we had a meal today…the colors that remain in my mind from the summer weather where I live so far are green and gray-blue…green for the grass and tree leaves that have gotten record amounts of rainfall this summer, and gray-blue for the sky which has been overcast so many days this summer…went to confession the other day…listened to your music today as well…what a treat, Mick and the rest…I would have to say in all honesty, that your music, coupled with prayer, the Eucharist, confession, and the bible, and some of the writings of the saints, has improved the quality of my life.…

hey Pete, Mick, the band…am a little bit happy again today…drove around the city on holidays with my hobo friend, (he’s a great guy I think) and we listened to “holding back the years“over and over again…it was so peaceful…it made us wonder if the people we saw in cars or walking etc know that God loves them and wants them to be happy…it was beautiful…and your music was there with us, sustaining the feeling…love you all for that, Mick and the rest…just beautiful…

hey Pete…Mick…the band…listened to “fairground” a little bit today…I remember reading an article about your music once, in which someone said something to the effect of “a line that someone else could sing and no one would think twice about it, Mick can sing and it grabs you”…or something to that effect…I’m not trying to flatter you, but it is true that your music has really been an inspiration for me, particularly the last decade or so that I’ve been listening to it…I really don’t think you all could have done such a wonderful job of it, particularly Mick, (at least in my estimation), unless God had been there all along, in His love…that’s my take on it…and I sure am grateful to God for your music…

Hey Pete…Mick…the band…hope you are dong reasonably well, all things considered…was listening to some of your music today…don’t know how you do it…I think a person can learn something about peace and joy from the music Simply Red has produced over the years, despite the fact that Mick kind of squandered some of his gift in dissolute living in his early years…or maybe that pushed him to come up with some of his best lyrics and melodies?…I don’t know…I mean I guess the only way we could ever REALLY know is if Mick could live his life twice and this time be a little more moral, all the while keeping the music he made from the first time he lived his life…but nobody can do that and maybe it was God’s will that Mick learn some things the hard way, as many of us do…
