i had been looking forward to this concert for so long, and it was absoutley fantastic! i loved every minute and didn't want it to end. The band sounded brilliant and Mick as always was so good! following on from bristol for 2 nights i just love it more and more. it is so bloody obvious that mick has such a passion for this stuff that whatever he did / does with simply red, this is where his heart is at. band are great and getting tighter by the show, bumped into pete and steve before the show who were very friendly. what a blast to here cold sweat live! i know SR did it at a show in Chilie many years ago and can be caught on you tube, but i have always hoped to hear it myself. when they kicked into it last night i was on top of the world. so, i leave work in about 3 hours to head up north for liverpool and manchester tomorrow. bloody hell i should be paid for this!! elaine, any jobs selling t-shirts?!!

Fanatastic, seen SR in big arenas in the past but to see & hear the last nigts gig at the Wolves Civic was pure magic, much, much better in the smaller venue... Mick was in his usual tremendous form, voice fantastic, the band totally superb. Great mix of Bobby Bland material, SR live classics at the end + James Brown..........

Just absolutely awesome, last night at the wolves civic was brilliant. Mick and the band came and gave us a faultless and fantastic performance one that will remain with me forever. The intimacy of the venue was perfect for this show, loved being able to see Mick and band on stage rather than on video screen of a large venue. Mick's interaction with the audience was great too, he really made you feel appreciated that you turned up to watch his show. If anyone reading this who failed to get a ticket- you missed a cracker!!!!

I've always enjoyed Mick singing non-SR tracks and love the Tribute To Bobby album, which in my opinion brings out the superb quality and range of Mick's voice. I've been looking forward to the gig at the smaller, intimate venue of the Civic Hall, Wolverhampton. The film was a brilliant opener to the Tribute To Bobby show. I wasn't disappointed with the gig, it was absolutely awesome, Mick's voice is even more powerful than I could ever have imagined. Also have to say that the guys are also as brilliant as ever.

WOW - Mick Hucknall and the guys in my hometown and they were fantastic!!! Mick, as always, was fabulous. I was new to the Bobby Bland music but with Micks' interpretation, it was fabulous and I am a convert. My one criticism and it is only a little one - is that the video at the beginning was a little long - I know it was scene setting but we just wanted to see and hear Mick! Thanks again Mick for an excellent night! xxx

What can I say? Still floating... fantastic night from Mick and the guys. So difficult to pick out any highlights as it was all brilliant, but here goes… Goes without saying, but that amazing voice - perfect for the BB songs Mick sat on a stool doing a Dave Allan and chatting to us Being so close to the band in a smaller venue and seeing them all enjoying themselves Mick's love and passion for the music, specially in Chains of Love Yolanda - one of my favourites A surprise James Brown number - Cold Sweat in the encore. The power and range of the voice, those hips, and interaction with the band - fab! Lead me on - brought tears to my eyes Thanks so much to you all for sharing your talent and bringing such joy.

I'm not good at writing reviews and memory isn't what it was but would like to post a few comments regarding the Wolverhampton gig last night.
I went to the gig with my hubby (not a fan of any artist, Mick and SR included, although he does have his fave SR tracks). This is approximately our 12th or 13th attendence at one of Mick's gigs, mostly large venues and our very first attendance at any gig at the Civic. One of my friends also joined us for the evening, she's seen SR a handful of times, mostly at the NEC and likes the Tribute To Bobby album. We were seated in the front row of the centre balcony (the one at the back of the venue and we were on Dave's side of the stage).
I hadn't played the album for my hubby so he didn't know what to expect last night.
I've always enjoyed the non-SR tracks and love the Tribute To Bobby album, which in my opinion brings out the superb quality and range of Mick's voice, so I was expecting something special with the new tour.
When the tour dates were announced I'd been very pleasantly shocked and surprised to discover that there was to be a gig at the Civic Hall, Wolverhampton and I'd hoped that the smaller, intimate venue would re-create the atmosphere and experience of the acoustic set of the 2000 Convention.
Kristyna Myles is a great supporting act.
The film is a brilliant opener to Tribute To Bobby and I wasn't disappointed with the gig, it was absolutely awesome. Mick’s voice is even more powerful than I've ever heard it before, full of emotion and you can tell he was thoroughly enjoying it. The guys in the band are as brilliant as ever, if not even better and the instrumental tunes are fantastic too. The smaller venue certainly had the desired effect.
Most of the audience remained seated throughout the whole evening, except for the encore. Please Mick, don't think that it was because they didn't appreciate the show, I'm sure they did.
The balconies are difficult places to stand and there are warning signs that for safety reasons the audience should remain seated through the entire performance. However, with some of the more upbeat numbers I found it very difficult to sit still, I'm sure the folks behind me though I was a bit demented. I did stand and wave as the band left the stage at the end of the main set and again at the very end of the performance.
Unfortunately, this is my only gig on this tour but I'm looking forward to the SR farewell tour next year and following that, to whatever musical direction Mick decides to take with his future career.
At the end of the evening I asked my hubby what he'd though of the gig
and his comments were that he found this a very refreshing change of musical style and he thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the show. It's not often he makes such comments about a gig, so that's praise indeed
Hope the photos he took during the evening turn out well.
My friend had enjoyed the show too.
For those of you who are yet to attend a gig I'm sure you won't be disappointed and for anyone who has yet to make a decision, I would urge you to try to get tickets, this is definitely a show not to be missed.
In conclusion, I'd like to say a very big thank you to Mick and the guys for an absolutely, brilliant and awesome performance last night.
Looking forward to reading other reviews and comments on this show.

I cannot put into words how wonderful Mick and the band were at last nights gig. Have bought the album but to be honest wasn't sure if I liked it, however after last night brilliant performance, I think it's awesome. I have been a SR fan for 20 years and been to all the large venues, so many I have lost count but the intimacy of the smaller venue at the Civic Hall last night was spine tingling. Being 5ft2ins I appreciated everyone sitting down because I could actually see for a change, but please don't think it was because we weren't enjoying the show WE WERE. I managed to get right to the front for the encore and i can't remember what the last song was, but Mick you naughty boy, it made me cry! I think it was the shock of being so close, and I have to say Fatherhood obviously suits you Mick because you look in great shape.
So just want to say a BIG BIG Thank you to all of you and please please please do more smaller venues in the future. Good luck for whatever the future holds.
Loyal fan forever

Yes - tissues essential! Last song was Lead Me On and it made me cry too. Wonderful end to an amazing evening. Have posted a review in the tour section so won't repeat it here and can't find any more words to say how good it was.
Nice review from the local paper

Can't agree more just an amazing band loved everything about it,
yes everyone was seated untill the end but I just couldn't hold it any longer.
The guys looked very handsome all suited and booted very smart
And yes in reply to another review Mick did wipe a tear away at the end of Chains Of Love......aah bless him.
Just a brill night can't wait for the next one.......
The only thing wrong was that it seemed like it was over too quick could have with a few more hours
Can't find words to describe it apart from ABSOLUTELY FAAAAAB.

We go to the civic quite often for gigs but last night mick and the band made that place buzz like i've never felt before. It's great to see such a legend perform at wolves civic anyway. Don't criticise about the audience sitting a lot, unfortunately it's a venue where standing can spoil it for others but the intimacy of the place more than makes up for it. Micks unique voice was so complimented by the awesome band, and everyone on stage gave a performance that was simply out of this world.
If you are one of those folks that wanted to go but could'nt be bothered to buy a ticket, tough you missed out mammoth style.
Mick, if you want to bring yourself and the band back for another gig, we'll be there.

Well what a night,I thought the Rehearsal Gig in Bristol could not be bettered, but being a local boy and finally seeing Mick perform so close to home after travelling throughout the UK for the last 20 years it was something special and emotional that I will never forget
MH yet again showed us why he simply is the best singer walking the planet

I had a really great night at the Civic in Wolverhampton on Monday. Mick was his usual awesome self. It was lovely to see the rest of the band and hear all the new stuff.. thoroughly enjoyed it. These nights are never long enough. Can't wait to see you again.

Mick, thank you for showing us where your heart is by introducing us to the music you love. My husband Mick and I had bought and listened to your new album and I loved it. My Mick wasn't so sure at first, but he is now. Your voice is still bloody awesome, and that is coming from someone who loves Black Sabbath (another gig at Wolves Civic Hall!, but another story!!) You're not quite the Godfather of Soul Mick, but maybe, just maybe the Godson. James Brown's title cannot be passed on!!
We are so looking forward to the farewell tour next year and we shall miss you and the band, but 25 years of anything is long enough Mick, and we CAN still play all the music, just have to accept that there will be nothing new with Simply Red.
Hope Gaby and Baby Romy are well.
Much love
- Jayne (DERBY FAN, sorry there are still some of us left!)
