Manchester welcomed Mick with open arms last night and he was obviously very, very happy to be back on home turf. Somehow it always seems that little bit more special seeing Mick perform in Manchester. The show was fantastic! Everyone on stage performed with so much energy and enthusiasm and by the end of the evening I didn't see anyone still seated...a truely magical sight! Even Mick's family and friends who occupied the whole of the row behind us were up strutting their stuff.
The venue was perfect. It had all the right ingredients needed to create the intimate setting needed to set the scene for Mick's tribute to Bobby. It worked so much better than the huge arena in Liverpool on Tuesday.
If I had to sum up last nights show in two words they would be....FLIPPING BRILLIANT!

Last night's gig was just such a memorable event. Great to see a new development in such a talented musician - and even better to see it on the home leg! The Apollo was the perfect venue - great sound and such an intimate venue. The band supporting Mick were so cool and real enthusiastics for this sytle of music. I do hope the genre returns in the way that it did in earlier times. The dawn of a new era in music maybe be breaking and if what we saw in Manchester last night was evidence of it then many will welcome it. I look forward to seeing Simply Red on their final tour but look beyond that to years of more material like this! I endorse the previous comment about arena gigs. For some they're okay - but the Apollo is a must for Mick's performance .... Good luck with therest of the tour!

My mate got tickets from her son as a pressie for this concert and I was lucky enough to be invited along to the gig on Thursday 3rd July at the Apollo.
The venue was brilliant, very intimate and very appropriate for this fabulous tribute to Bobby Bland. I must admit I had no idea what to expect - I l;ove Simple Red and have been to a number of concerts, but I had never heard of Bobby Bland - it was brilliant!
The voice of Mick was amazing, the band were brilliant - god I love the Sax!
At the end of the night we called for a beer next door and decided to wait to see the band leave for a giggle - why not - only Maddie my cheeky friend nipped onto the bus to have a quick peep, she was obviously "kicked off" but it was all done in good humour, so thanks for such an enjoyable evening to all involved. - Caroline Edwards X

Excellent show at the old Apollo Theatre in Manchester. Great venue, plenty of atmosphere, loved the old plush seats and the notices everywhere - looked like the theatre was used to a rougher crowd than that of last Thursday!
Show really kicked off, right from the start. The guys in the band were on top form & played superbly as always, good to hear them shine in the instrumentals. Mick's voice soared perfectly and everything gelled right from the start. Loved the suits - you all really dazzled!
The audience was totally behind the performance right from the start though I was beginning to get a little worried that we would all be so polite, no-one would every get on their feet!
No such problem - we leapt to our feet as soon as the first notes of the encore began. Mick and the band gave us a real cracking climax to a brilliant show. Thank you!
Cant wait till the O2 next Weds!!
Love to all

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING Fantastic night with Mick and the Band on terrific form. Mick explained how little we all knew about Bobby but hoped we would be converted WE WERE. Dont under estimate your contribution Mick even the great man himself (Bobby) loves your version. Cant wait for Simply Red farewell tour and many more nights like this in the future.
Thank You

Been a fan of Mick’s for years and finally got to see him live. The whole aspect of the evening was great. The venue just right, the musicians fantastic. The Tribute to Bobby Bland was given a unique style and individuality that only Mick can bring with his enthusiasm and wonderful vocal sound. Great to see this genre of music be reintroduced! Please keep it going Mick, we want more.

Absolutely Amazing, Mick was just Fantastic. The Apollo was a great venue, I think some of the magic would have been lost if he'd have played the Arena. Reading the reviews for Liverpool I think some people were disappointed and expecting a Simply Red concert. I bought the album before going to the concert so I had an idea what I'd be listening to but it just did not do justice to Mick's performance on the night. The film at the begining was a good idea for anyone expecting Simply Red (and over hearing a few comments I think some people had not "done their homework").The muscicians were all members of Simply Red and as excellent as ever. Will certainly be at the Simply Red tour next year, can't wait.

It's good to read the reviews. My husband bought tickets for our wedding anniversary ( actually on the 3rd ) Unfortunately we couldn't go as my husband had a stroke and was in hospital. Hopefully see you again next year Mick.

What a fantastic show it was a right buzz i bought the album and really liked it but the concert was just amazing. Mick was on his best form in his home town and the crowd went wild for him and the band. The band all were dressed to impress and their music was 5*****.
Didnt want it to end got a great view was even better than i expected.
Managed to meet the band after the concert so this put the icing on the cake and a few pics as well.
Thanks everyone for a great time.

We really enjoyed the concert last night. Mick’s voice is truly outstanding the band were brilliant too. The only disappointment was that the night ended too soon! My other disappointment was that I seen a guy who has to be some relation of Mick’s as he looks so like him (I also seen the same guy at the concert in Malta last year), and missed my chance to speak to him (and possibly get a photo of Mick!)
Looking forward to more concerts next year.
